Photos of the Day (Mason 2.5 years)

Posted on

Believe it or not, Mason is turning two and a half in a couple days. As is tradition, ¬†photos were taken from the moment he awoke until he went to bed on the hour. The photos catalog his daily actives, his mood, and little events. It’s unbelievable how much he has changed over the past 6 months. One thing the photos won’t display is how verbal he has gotten in the last few months. What at one time¬†was a couple of words that created a sentence now is detailed stories, opinions, and monologs. Crazy how quick it happens…

This photo of the day is a unique one as Elaine and Caleb are up North in the Bay area visiting Juliana and Jaclyn. I believe that Elaine took a lot of photos today with Caleb so we will get his photos up on the blog here shortly. Enjoy Mason’s day….

I took a video of our dinner conversation this evening too. The video is about 4mins long and starts with a little “NO!” but then we dive into a conversation. It gets a little long but it is classic Mason… enjoy!

Here is a quick photo update of the previous few days..beach time, watercolor painting, movie watching with a friend and of course Olvera Street. Mason is featured in the photos as Caleb was strapped to my chest for most of our adventures. We will get more photos of him up soon!

Our week…

Posted on

Thought I’d share some photos from the last week… some beach time, park games, Caleb’s first food (hummus) and painful trip to the ER due to finger slammed in the door.

Thankfully Mason’s finger is okay with no broken bones. He was super brave and is now sporting a green splint and some surgical glue for the wound. He’s adapted quite well to his club thumb and has been quite curious on where his thumb is hiding. Funny now, but in the ER we were all a little scared.

Mason Q&A

Posted on

A while back Elaine and I did a blog post where we answered questions on behalf of Mason. We did this before he could fully talk and it was a lot of fun to answer questions and think of things from his perspective. His days of grunts and small words are long gone and we thought it would be fun to include him in the process. For the Q&A we each answered questions independently. You’ll see the dialog below…

What is your favorite shirt?
Mark “solar system shirt”
Elaine “that one with the helicopter and ambulance on it”
Mason “the Spider-Man one”

If you could go on a trip to anywhere in the world where would you go?
Mark “the Natural History Museum”
Elaine “the Natural History Museum”
Mason “back to the hive” (he has a book about bees that concludes with all the bees going back to the hive)

What is your favorite toy?
Mark “blocks”
Elaine “blocks or Coco the horse”
Mason “the baby turtle”

What is your favorite food?
Mark “berries”
Elaine “something from the freezer”
Mason “it’s the grapes”

If you could only grab one thing from the house to take with you and leave the rest behind, what would it be?
Mark “his blanket”
Elaine “his blanket or his bluea (pacifier)
Mason “oh, my dump truck”

What do you want to do for work when you grow up?
Mark “firefighter”
Elaine “to ride horses”
Mason “I want to fly”

What is your favorite book?
Mark “Dr Seuess’s Big Flap Book”
Elaine “Dr Seuess’s Big Flap Book
Mason “Papa, please get the moon for me”

As you can see, Elaine and I often think alike about him but we are clearly not Mason. When talking with him he only hesitated for the favorite toy question. The rest of his answers were very stream of consciousness and were given without deliberations.

It was great to get his opinion on these important topics and I imagine that we will do these Q&As a little more often. Let me know if you have any suggestions for questions
